Since site activity commenced with the late-2015 demolition of a row of fully and semi-detached homes on St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto's Deer Park neighbourhood, we have been closely following the construction of Madison Homes and Fieldgate Urban's ZIGG Condos. Over the course of the past nine months, we have seen the completion of excavation and the subsequent rise of the 11-storey Kirkor Architects-designed development's tower crane in Spring 2016, followed by the subsequent rise of the building's below-grade parking garage. The latest milestone reached at the site was the recent start of pouring for the building's ground floor, paving the way for the project's rise above St. Clair.

Concrete is now in place for much of the ground level, including much of the north side, with rebar cages in place for the remainder of the ground floor. At the time of our visit to the site on the afternoon of August 22, a cement truck was busy pumping concrete onto the north side of the ground floor, where some walls and columns were already in place.

Work on the ground floor is furthest along at the site's northeast corner, fronting the St. Clair West and Poplar Plains intersection. Here, the first hint of the second floor is visible, marked by the presence of a scaffold and floor forms in the image below.

An aggressive construction schedule places the building at structural completion by the end of the year. At approximately the 7th level—anticipated to be reached by mid-Fall—the first precast cladding panels will be installed on the exterior. Window installation is expected to follow by December, with the completion of cladding work scheduled for Spring 2017.
