Taking its name from 19th century horticulturalist George Leslie—for whom the Leslieville neighbourhood is also named—Rockport's George Condos and Towns is coming to Toronto's Queen Street East. Joining the Leslieville community, the RAW-designed project will meet the street at a height of 8 storeys—fronted by a sensitively scaled brick streetwall—while 8 smaller townhouse suites will be located behind the condominium.

Featuring 80 condominium units, the development is notable for its outdoor spaces, with each suite emerging onto a sizeable private balcony or terrace. Referred to as 'Urban Yards,' these spaces are designed to extend the suite's living area, with the exteriors finished "to the same calibre as the interiors."

Appointed by Mike Niven Interior Design, the outdoor living areas feature porcelain floors, privacy screens, and BBQ connections, along with subtle landscaping. Ranging in size from 100 ft² to 770 ft², the Urban Yards concept is a notable upgrade to the somewhat constrained outdoor spaces commonly seen in new-build condos.

Profiled in an earlier article, the 'Urban Yards' will be complemented by a rooftop amenity area, underlining the commitment to outdoor space. The rooftop terrace features a variety of programming, including a 'parkour-style' resistance training area. The terrace features ergonomic machines that are designed to "use your own body weight for a great workout," alongside individual training and stretching space.

For children, there's also a padded play area with a large chalkboard, making for a safe and creative space that's also designed to engender a sense of community. For parties, there's also an al fresco dining space with built-in barbecue, which backs out onto a landscaped area. The terrace also features a quiet lounge area, which is framed by hedges to create a relaxing sense of enclosure.

The project's one, two, and three-bedroom suites range in size from 530 ft² to 1,467 ft², while the eight urban towns (seen below) run from 1981 ft² to 2,224 ft².
