A full year since the project's June 2015 ground breaking ceremony, the massive 4.4 acre site of The Craftsman Condominium Residences by the VANDYK group of companies is abuzz with activity in Mississauga's Clarkson Village area. Shoring work for the four-storey, SMV Architects-designed condominium community continues to progress at the northeast edge of the site, as excavation has begun at the southwest portion of the site.
Drilling and forming of the site's 337 1-metre wide drilled concrete caissons are now closing in on completion, while a soldier pile and lagging shoring system is in place on the south and west sides. The site's dewatering system has also been installed, and in the time since, the bulk of activity on the site has shifted towards the now-apparent excavation.
Bulk excavation for the development's parking structure and basement levels will continue over the next few months, after which the installation of cranes and subsequent forming of foundations will mark the start of the development's climb back to street level.
The project will add 299 new homes to Mississauaga's neighbourly Clarkson Village. Units will range in size between 602 ft² and 1,750 ft², coming in 1 to 3-bedroom layouts, and starting in the low $300,000s. Residents of The Craftsman will enjoy access to indoor amenities designed by renowned U31, and outdoor spaces with landscaping by Baker Turner Inc.. The adjacent Birchwood Park will provide even more outdoor space for residents, while the nearby Clarkson GO Station will put Downtown Toronto and much of the GTHA within easy commuting distance.
