The University of Toronto is hosting an open house to review the new Secondary Plan proposed for the St. George Campus. Replacing a plan adopted in 1997, the new Secondary Plan is being drafted to reflect the changing campus. According to the University's site, the new plan is also designed to "reflect the objectives and vision of the 2011 St. George Campus Master Plan, the Huron Sussex Neighbourhood Planning Study and the concurrent work of TOcore."

Prepared by Urban Strategies, the Secondary Plan—which would be adopted as an amendment to the City's Official plan—outlines regulations governing land use within the area, ensuring that any new growth and development is sensitive to the established character. For the University, the detailed Secondary Plan will serve to protect the campus' fine-grained character areas (seen above) as the school's Downtown hub grows.

Tonight's meeting will run from 5:00 to 7:30 PM, and will be held at the C. David Naylor Student Commons in the main floor of Medical Sciences Building, located at 1 King's College Circle. More information is available on the University's website, where a copy of Urban Strategies' February presentation is also linked.
