The City of Toronto's TransformTO initiative is set to continue this spring with a series of community discussions focusing on Toronto's future as a low-carbon city, to be held later this month and through the start of May. The four public conversations will be hosted by the Environment & Energy division and Toronto Atmospheric Fund, and will build upon the information collected via the last year's TalkTransformation! speaker series and online survey. Each event takes place in a different area of the city, with the aim to engage local communities and explore the changes necessary in reducing Toronto's greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by the year 2050.

"We must rise to the challenge of climate change and reduce our reliance on carbon-based fuels,” said Councillor Michelle Holland (Berardinetti) (Ward 35 Scarborough Southwest), Chair of the Parks and Environment Committee. "As we do so, we can create a more sustainable city—one that's also healthier, more equitable, and prosperous. I encourage everyone to participate in these important conversations that will help to shape our city for years to come."

The TransformTO community conversations will take place on:

Monday, April 25 at Metro Hall, 55 John St.

Wednesday, April 27 at Ken Cox Community Centre, 28 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr.

Tuesday, May 3 at Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.

Monday, May 9 at North York Memorial Hall, 5110 Yonge St.

Each of the talks will begin with an open house between 6 PM and 7 PM, with presentations following from 7 PM to 9 PM. Additional information and registration details for the events can be found at http://www.toronto.ca/transformto.
