This week's Throwback Thursday takes us to the Yonge and College/Carlton area for a look at a major redevelopment project from a decade ago. Back on May 1, 2006, construction was well underway for Edilcan's The Met, a Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed condominium tower on Carlton Street, just east of Yonge. At the time the photo below was captured, the tower stood at a height of 14 storeys, well on its way towards a final height of 43 storeys. To the east, the presentation centre for second phase 'Encore at The Met' is also visible.

Jumping ahead to April 20, 2016, the view from the northeast street entrance to College subway station has changed significantly. The Met has long been completed, while the 33-storey second phase east tower, Encore at The Met, was completed in 2008 in a similar aesthetic as its taller sibling.

A view skywards reveals the upper levels of both towers from a vantage point just steps to the east.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
