Site preparation work is under way for The Craftsman Condominium Residences, a four-storey, SMV Architects-designed condominium community by the VANDYK group of companies. Located in Mississauga's quaint Clarkson Village, the project officially broke ground back in June 2015 with an event attended by VANDYK Group President and CEO John Vandyk and City of Mississauga Ward 2 councillor Karen Ras.

Since that time, the site has been undergoing complex below-grade infrastructure work in advance of the first concrete pours for the development's foundations. Back in October, work was completed on the relocation of a Region of Peel watermain and a storm culvert for Turtle Creek. This work separated the site from the existing Turtle Creek floodplain, a critical step in preparing the site for foundation construction.

With Ministry of Environment approval now in place, crews are now in the process of installing entry gates along the site's Lakeshore Road frontage, as well as dewatering and shoring systems around Birchwood Park, with the start of shoring activity to follow. The image below features two slides, the first highlighting the work completed in Fall of 2015, while the second shows the current stage of work from December onward. The development draws its name and design inspiration from the organic architecture movement exemplified by iconic American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, using naturally-inspired materials meant to foster a dialogue between the condominium community and the natural beauty of the adjacent Birchwood Park.

The Craftsman will feature 299 condominium units, ranging in size from 602 square feet up to 1,750 square feet, with interior amenity spaces appointed by U31 and outdoor landscaping by Baker Turner Inc.
