It has been a few months since we last visited the site of Plaza's 50 at Wellesley Station, a Quadrangle Architects-designed condominium tower set to rise 37 storeys over Wellesley Street East between Yonge and Church Streets. At the time of our last update in October, the development's on-site presentation centre had recently been demolished, clearing the way for the start of the shoring phase.

Now, three months later, shoring activity has progressed at an impressive pace, allowing the recent start of the site's excavation stage. During this process, crews will dig down three storeys below grade to create the development's parking garage, set to contain 163 spaces, including 117 resident spaces and 46 spaces on the P1 level for the Toronto Parking Authority.

Excavation of the site should take a few months, after which we will see the building's foundations and three parking levels begin to rise back to the surface.

50 at Wellesley Station will bring 365 units to the Church and Wellesley community, consisting of 59 one bedroom, 164 one bedroom + den, 128 two bedroom, and 14 three bedroom suites. Residents of the development will enjoy a selection of amenities on levels 2 through 4, including a fitness centre, yoga room, event space, media and billiard games room, two guest suites, plus an outdoor terrace on the podium roof. Residents will also be able to enjoy Paul Kane House Parkette, situated to the immediate east of the development.

The project is aiming for completion in June of 2017. In the meanwhile, additional information including renderings and several floor plans can be found in the project's dataBase file, linked below.
