The skyline of Etobicoke's Humber Bay Shores continues to grow denser as construction progresses on a number of new high-rise developments in that area. One of the major redevelopment efforts reshaping the area is Monarch Group/Mattamy Homes and the Biddington Group's side-by-side projects, Lago at the Waterfront and Riva del Lago, two Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed condominium buildings that will stand 49 and 14 storeys respectively between Lake Shore Boulevard West and the Lake.

At the time of our last update, the taller Lago at the Waterfront stood at a height of 35 floors. In the month since, an additional four floors have been poured, leaving just 10 more residential levels and the mechanical penthouse to construct before the tower tops off above 49 storeys. In the same time, another two and a half levels have been poured for neighbouring Riva del Lago, which has a much larger floor plate.

Cladding installation of Lago at the Waterfront has also progressed enough that Lago's signature design element of shifting four-level volumes with alternating black and white underpainting is becoming more pronounced from acute angles at the base of the tower. The effect is magnified by the coordinated light and dark-tinted balcony glazing.

Once Lago at the Waterfront achieves its topping off, it will become the tallest building on the Humber Bay Shores skyline, for about a year, before it is overtaken by Empire Communities' Eau du Soleil in 2017. Eau is currently under construction nearby to the southwest and will rise 66 storeys, and approximately 50 metres taller than Lago. In total, Lago at the Waterfront and neighbouring Riva del Lago will add over 800 new homes to the Humber Bay Shores area upon completion.
