With construction complete and residents moved in, UrbanToronto recently toured Plaza's Ivory on Adelaide, taking in the finished Hariri Pontarini design, as well as the views from one of Ivory's penthouse suites. The 22-storey building has been well received on our Forum, and won its category in 2014's Best Projects in our year-end poll.

Looking onto Adelaide, Ivory's central forecourt serves as a smart entry point, deftly negotiating a cohesive relationship between the building and the public realm. Featuring artist Peter Bowyer's provocative 'Flower'—a public art installation in the form of a large stem topped by metallic buds—the forecourt's plantings have now taken root, meaning we can expect a pleasantly warm and inviting space to emerge in the springtime.

Stepping into the lobby, we are immediately greeted by a modern and luxurious design. Characterized by an interplay of subdued dark tones and glossy, reflective surfaces, the lobby sets the aesthetic tone for the building's interiors, which are appointed by Bryon Patton and Associates.

The lobby looks out over Ivory's exceptionally large party room and lounge (below), which features several groups of plush couches, chairs, dining tables, and a large modern bar—in addition to televisions and a showpiece marble fireplace.

With a capacity of 175 people, the space is well suited to entertain large groups and formal events.

Next up, we tour Ivory's sound-insulated gym, which is equipped with a range of exercise machines, as well as TVs and a mirrored wall. The gym's rubberized floors provide both a soft, safe exercise surface for residents, as well as sound insulation for neighbouring suites.

On the 12th floor, is Ivory's east-facing outdoor terrace. Featuring barbecues, landscaping, ample seating, and soft night-time lighting, the terrace provides a pleasant warm-weather space for residents and guests.

Concluding our tour, we take in the views from one of Ivory's top-floor penthouses, with the east and north-facing suite opening up to rich panoramas of the city.

The two-bedroom penthouse suite also features high-end, stainless steel appliances, as well as an ample terrace spanning the length of the common living spaces.
