While the nine-storey condominium block has so far been the focus of our coverage of Time Development Group's Danforth Square in Toronto's east end, the Scarborough project's colourful collection of stacked townhomes proves just as attention-grabbing, if somewhat less conspicuous. Tucked behind the larger condominium building, the Kohn Partnership Architects-designed community's townhomes bring a more intimate, low-rise character to the development.
Characterized by a playfully bold interchange of bright red tones and muted brick along the exteriors, the townhouses bring an eye-catching presence to the landscaped street. While maintaining a declaratively colourful design, the townhouses units also help to integrate the development into the neighbourhood context, taking up a middle-ground between the taller condominium and the single-unit homes that surround the site.
The townhome suites present a valuable family-friendly housing option in a congested market where space continues to become a greater premium. Designed in a four-floor configuration, the townhomes feature landscaped yards appointed by Terraplan, and spacious rooftop terraces, providing outdoor space and a sense of privacy for residents. Located away from Danforth Road, the quieter residential area presents a slower-paced environment well suited to young families, as well as residents who value a tranquil ambiance.
Danforth Square's townhoms will also feature gourmet kitchens—complete with stone countertops, designer kitchen cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances—and 9' ceilings in principal rooms. With interiors appointed by Tanner Hill Associates Incorporated, high quality finishes are expected throughout the suites.
Located near the intersection of Danforth Road and Warden, Danforth Square's residents will be situated conveniently close to public transit, with the TTC's Warden and Victoria Park stations nearby. Slightly further afield, the Danforth GO station also presents a viable transit option, while the upcoming Crosstown LRT will only be a short ride away.
