It has been a few months since we last updated the construction progress for Streetcar DevelopmentsThe Taylor, an 8-storey condominium development being built on the north side of Dundas, just east of its sibling development, The Carlaw, which is now being completed. Since our last update back at the start of June, The Taylor has had its final floor poured, marking the official topping off of the new 96-unit condominium and townhome development.

As with its taller sibling to the west, The Taylor features a modern design by TACT Architecture. Exterior finishing of the low-slung building is now under way, with dark tinted windows now largely installed across its exterior elevations. The glass will soon be complemented by brick, and The Taylor's much-anticipated 'Öko Skin' over much of the exterior walls. This advanced cladding, not seen much in Toronto yet, is a weatherproof concrete composite material which can be made to be mimic wood colours and textures.

At the rear of the development along Filmic Lane, window wall cladding, spandrel accents, balcony railings and glazing have been installed on upper floors, while the installation of brickwork is imminent along the townhome frontages.

The ironspot slate-gray bricks are expected to closely match the brickwork seen on the rear lower levels of The Carlaw, visible in the background of the image below.

The Taylor and the Carlaw's townhome components serve an important role in the development's contextual relationship with the surrounding neighbourhood, helping to transition the bulky buildings down to the low-rise townhomes to the immediate north.

Additional information, including renderings and floor plans of what the finished buildings and suites will look like, can be found in our dataBase files, linked below.
