Decades of subdivision development has swallowed up much of the City of Burlington's former farmland, and though the well has yet to run completely dry, Burlington's central areas are seeing more urban-minded practices of infill development that intensifies and revitalizes land. There are plenty of opportunities for this in Burlington, but few locations in this mid-sized city provide greater development potential than the land surrounding Burlington GO Station.

Excavation is ongoing and the first upward construction has begun at the site of Molinaro Group's Paradigm Condominiums, a massive development set to greatly increase densities surrounding the GO station while capitalizing on the infrastructure. The five-tower, Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed development will add hundreds of condominium units to an area otherwise dominated by surface parking and low-rise single-family housing, putting countless new residents within distance of the adjacent GO line, while setting a new precedent for height in the area predominantly low-rise area.

The development's first phase consists of two 20-storey towers flanking a 23-storey central tower, all connected by a 9-storey base structure. The west tower is sold out, while the larger central tower is now in sales and the east tower will follow soon. A second phase will add two L-shaped towers to the south which will create a central courtyard for the complex. Construction work is well under way at the site of the sold-out west tower, with excavation at the northwest edge of the site complete, and work on the west tower's concrete foundations started.

A tower crane has been erected near the site's southwest edge, while excavation continues nearby for the central and east towers.

With construction under way on the first building , and four more towers set to add thousands of residents to this complex, we will be keeping an eye out for news about Paradigm. In the meantime, additional information and plenty of renderings can be found in our dataBase file for the project, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion?
