The streets surrounding Bay and Bloor have been subject to much intensification in recent years, with redevelopments and infill buildings remaking the area continually.

Back on December 10th, 2005, the current wave of development was only just beginning to impact this area of the city. At that time, plans were in the works to replace a four-storey, mid-20th century red brick building at Charles and St Thomas Streets—at the time occupied by French language school Lycée Français de Toronto and non-profit organization Promotion of Education and Values—with a new condo by Aspen Ridge Homes, to be called 77 Charles West.

Fast forward to August 19th, 2015, and the 16-storey, HOK-designed boutique condominium development has added 47 luxury units to the area since its 2012 completion.

For a fuller view of the completed development, we turn to a wider view, captured from a short distance to the north on St. Thomas Street.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
