It has been many months since the first residents moved into the Theatre Park condominium by Lamb Development Corp, Niche Development, and Harhay Developments in Toronto's Entertainment District. The 47-storey architectsAlliance-designed tower is a notable contribution to the area's ever-changing skyline, with its distinctive diagonal white aluminum banding accenting the reflective blue curtain wall cladding of the east and west facades.
The striking exterior of the tower is now being complemented by the installation of unique podium glazing. The glass panes for what will be Morimoto are being installed at varying angles, giving the exterior a prism-like quality. The new restaurant from celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto—known for his high-profile restaurant locations, his time on the famous Japanese television show "Iron Chef" and its American spinoff—will be his first restaurant in Canada.
Located above a ground level bar, the multi-level space will offer casual dining on the main floor and formal dining on the upper one. Featuring interiors by Munge Leung, the angled exterior glazing starting about 10 metres above the patio and forecourt area that fronts King Street, should provide dappled light inside the space. The forecourt, visible in the image below, will be planted with trees and will feature a public art component, currently being completed on its east side.
There are still some odds and ends left to complete onsite, including amenity spaces like the podium-top swimming pool and the lounge and entertaining space behind it. Residents have been told they will soon be able to enjoy the pool, as the work is now close to wrapping up.
