Toronto's vertical community of Concord CityPlace has been almost completely built out over the last decade and a half, with just a few plots of land remaining and soon to be developed. 13 years ago in the Summer of 2002, the area looked nothing like it does today, though the first buildings in the master-planned community were under construction, and would soon transform the former rail yards on the west side of Downtown.

The image below shows a west-facing view down Bremner Boulevard at Rees Street before the towers of CityPlace sprouted up from the horizon. A banner hung on the south facade of the SkyDome (since renamed the Rogers Centre), promoting the Rolling Stones' Licks tour which visited Toronto four times, including one date at the SkyDome.

Returning to the same position in 2015 reveals two of the towers of the completed Harbourview Estates development, as well as the repainting work and window replacement under way at Maple Leaf Quay. The "now" photo required a wider angle to reveal the large electronic media board, which was moved east of the new residential towers for the sake of the buildings' residents.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
