New renderings are giving us our first taste of developer North Star Homes' planned townhouse development in the Bloor and Islington area. Dubbed ConneXion, the four-storey, TACT Architecture-designed residential development will be built on Fieldway Road, a short distance southwest of the Bloor and Islington intersection and Islington Station on the TTC's Line 2.

Located south of a rail corridor, Fieldway Road offers a mix of residential and employment lands, with single family housing and townhomes occupying much of the south side, and commercial properties on the north side. Increasing land values are bringing new density to the area, and recent developments like Network Lofts and Westwood Condominiums have started adding new residential density to the historically non-residential north side of Fieldway Road. ConneXion will continue this trend, rising to the immediate west of Westwood on the site of a one-storey commercial property at 26 Fieldway Road, now in use as the development's presentation centre.

The design of the townhouses' brick exteriors will mesh with the existing built form, serving as a buffer between the larger condominium developments to the east with the low rise commercial properties to the west and homes to the south.

In addition to putting residents within walking distance of the subway and the future Metrolinx transit hub at Kipling Station, ConneXion will also be situated in close proximity to the QEW, Gardiner Expressway, and Highway 427.
