Led by the City of TorontoToronto Community Housing, and private developer Tridel, work on the revitalization of Toronto's Alexandra Park community is now well under way in the city's Queen-Spadina area, with construction progressing on new market condominium units, alongside rental units that are replacing aging public housing townhouse blocks. With the successes at Regent Park on the other side of Downtown as its guide, the master plan for the re-built Alexandra Park neighbourhood will include 333 new rent-geared-to-income units, 473 refurbished rent-geared-to-income units, and 1,540 new market condominium units, the first of which are taking shape in the form of SQ Condos

Construction of the 14-storey, Teeple Architects-designed condominium is soon to meet a major milestone, with the building's below-grade structure currently sitting just over one level below grade. Shortly after work rises to grade, we can expect to see the building's distinctive irregular volumes begin take shape along Cameron Street, north of Queen.

The view above also shows much progress on the building of the new Atkinson Co-Op replacement townhouse units to the west along Vanauley Street. For a closer look, below, the townhouse construction captured from Vanauley Street.

SQ will be followed up by a second phase, being marketed as SQ2 at Alexandra Park. Also designed by Teeple Architects, this 14-storey building is offering 169 units, and amenities including a yoga and Pilates studio, a private dining room, and an outdoor terrace with barbecues, a dining area, and a sundeck with a hot tub.
