In 2006, the former Ritchie's Auctioneers and Appraisals location at 288 King Street East was picked up by Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) from Context Developments, who had plans to build a condo on the site. TCHC reworked the development as family-oriented rental housing instead, but back on January 23, 2006, work had yet to begin on the new architectsAlliance-designed TCHC development.

Returning to the same spot today, the new TCHC rental development is long-complete and blending in nicely with the other new buildings remaking the increasingly dense King East streetscape.

A second view of the site offers another point of comparison between the former structure and the modern 14-storey rental tower.

A wider view of the new development can be seen from a few steps to the west on King Street East. Rising directly across the street to the south, the new Globe and Mail Centre is soon to add significant new commercial office density to this rapidly changing block of King Street.
