Recognized for their 'Swiss Cheese' rooftops, Lanterra Developments' Ïce Condominiums development consists of a 57-storey and a 67-storey tower which have risen high, expanding Toronto's Downtown skyline south over the past four years. Designed by architectsAlliance, the doors to the shorter west tower opened several months ago while workers continue to finish up the sold-out taller east tower in preparation for its move-ins.

When we last checked in at Ïce condos, we saw the installation of the London-based Vong Phaophaint and Claire Obosussier crafted 'Dream House', a product of Toronto's One Percent for Public Art Programme, which requires that at least 1% of each major development budget be dedicated to public art. Located in the NAK Design Strategies-designed courtyard, Dream House stands 16 meters above ground level.

With its shorter counterpart completed and occupied, Ïce condos' east 67-storey tower most obvious recent change was the removal of its construction hoist. Previously located on the tower's west side, the windows of the suites where the hoist used to connect can now be installed.

Apart from the "Swiss Cheese' rooftops, mostly hidden in the fog in these images, there is another part of the development that is truly unique; its podium. Ïce's podium is a gently inclined plane punctuated by circles, mirroring the rooftops of the towers. The largest circle is punched out above the main entry area of the complex which itself will feature a circle-punctured landscape of trees, walkways, and a lengthy water feature. The garage slab is a full 3 metres below the surface which will enable the canopy trees planted in the courtyard to grow tall.

Once fully completed, the podium will include the ICE Complex, an extensive amenities suite which will be equipped with various a health and wellness facilities such as a gym with the latest cardio and weigh-training equipment, an ice spa and a pool. ICE Complex will feature also feature relaxation and entertainment spaces and a children's play area off the main floor lobby.
