As the City of Toronto works to expand its network of cycling infrastructure, a survey has been released seeking input from members of the public, in an effort to help Toronto's Transportation Services division create a ten-year plan for the expansion and improvement of our 856-kilometre cycling network. The survey, which can be found here, will be available until May 29th.

The plan has three objectives, aiming to

  • close gaps in the existing network
  • expand into new parts of the city
  • renew existing cycling routes to improve their quality.

Councillor Jaye Robinson (Ward 25 Don Valley West), Chair of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee, commented that "The City of Toronto is committed to expanding and improving our cycling network. The survey lets Toronto residents provide input on the objectives and criteria for selecting the routes that will form the cycling network."

After taking input from the public, the draft plan will be scrutinized using eight criteria, including; connecting existing routes, extending coverage to new areas of the city, crossing barriers, responding to population and employment density, meeting current cycling demand, recognizing potential future cycling demand, improving road safety, and connecting to key destinations.

We look forward to witnessing even more growth to Toronto's growing network of cycling infrastructure. Want to let us know what you think? Share your comments using the space provided at the bottom of this page.
