Construction is well under way at the site of Avani, the fifth tower in developer Tridel's master-planned Metrogate community at Kennedy and Highway 401 in Scarborough. The podium of the 35-storey Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed condominium tower has been poured, and work now reaches the 12th floor of the tower.

The first panels of precast concrete cladding have been applied to Avani's two-storey podium. This base building will serve as the connecting point between Avani and its second phase.

The follow-up phase to the project, titled Avani2, started sales earlier this year. Avani 2 is offering a mix of 363 1 bedroom, 1 bedroom plus den, 2 bedroom and 2 bedroom plus den suites, available in sizes ranging from 469 square feet up to 827 square feet, with prices starting from the low $200,000s.

Avani and Avani2 will join the two existing twin-tower developments Ventus at Metrogate and Solaris at Metrogate, that along with several townhouses, make up Tridel's Metrogate community. Once complete, residents of both Avani and Avani2 will have access to a selection of amenities, including lounge space on the ground floor of the shared podium.

The uniting feature of this large community is a central park containing green space and a playground, bounded by blocks of townhouses. This feature draws residents from each building to the centre of the community, acting as a hub for the new high-density neighbourhood.
