The Daniels Corporation's and Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC)'s multi-phased Regent Park revitalization continues, now into its tenth year. Though phase three is well under way, there are still a few properties left to develop in the second phase, including a recently announced condominium and townhouse development on Sackville between St. Bartholomew and Sutton Streets called The Bartholomew.

The 13-storey residential development, designed by Quadrangle Architects, is offering 159 condominium units and 30 townhomes, with condominium suites starting from the low $200,000s while towns start the mid $500,000s. Condo suites at The Bartholomew will feature 9 and 10-foot ceilings, laminate, porcelain and ceramic flooring, kitchens with quartz countertops, porcelain tile backsplashes, and European-style stainless steel appliances, custom-designed bathroom vanities with quartz countertops, deep soaker tubs and clear tempered-framed glass showers.

The development's three-storey townhomes feature designer finishes, 9-foot ceilings on the ground, second and third floors, oak staircases stained to match the floor colour, and private rear yards with a gas line that will allow outdoor barbecuing. The development is also offering a limited collection of luxury townhouses located on Sutton Street, called The Bartholomew’s Sutton Collection. This collection features two and three bedroom townhomes with rooftop terraces, private garages, finished lower levels and the opportunity to select designer finishes.

Geared toward a broad market of professionals, growing families, empty-nesters, singles, and couples, The Bartholomew will offer its residents a wide selection of amenities, including a party room with a kitchen/bar, a 24/7 lounge, pet spa, and a spacious and beautifully landscaped courtyard complete with gardening plots. Residents accustomed to an active lifestyle will particularly enjoy features like an indoor fitness centre, as well as a multi-purpose room offering WELLBEATS™—an interactive wellness resource that offers virtual programs such as Zumba, yoga, Pilates, dance-based exercise, weight training, cardio, cycling and classes for kids—all via a kiosk in front of a large-screen projector.

Suites and towns at The Bartholomew will be located steps from the 60,000 square-foot Daniels Spectrum cultural hub, Chef Chris Klugman’s Paintbox Bistro, the Regent Park Aquatic Centre, and a 6-acre community park on Dundas Street with a playground, community oven, off leash dog park and water play plaza, shopping, banks and the conveniences of schools, public transit, and the seasonal Regent Park Farmers’ Market.

Real estate prices are making it harder for new home buyers to enter the market, and Daniels is working hard to make new homes available to more people. Those in the rental market who don’t currently own a home may qualify for Daniels’ First Home BOOST, an innovative down payment program that provides an interest free and payment free loan for an additional 10% of the purchase price, turning your 5% deposit into a 15% down payment. This program allows potential residents to carry a mortgage for 85% of the purchase price, which translates to lower monthly carrying costs.

Daniels is also offering registrants the chance to join The Bartholomew Inner Circle™, which entitles potential buyers to be among the first to purchase with an invitation to Daniels’ Preview Event, including the First Advance Sale before the general public. Inner Circle members will have the most comprehensive choice of homes, getting early access to their floors and views of choice, plus advanced preview pricing. Interested purchasers can join the Inner Circle with a $300 registration fee, which can be put toward the purchase of a suite, or fully refunded for those who choose not to purchase a unit.

The project is one of the final developments for the second phase of the Regent Park revitalization, with just two more TCHC developments to finish off the phase. Phase 3 of the large-scale redevelopment has already commenced with work on the 2.8-acre Regent Park Athletic Grounds, being funded through the support of MLSE Foundation. The Athletic Grounds’ refurbished ice rink was the first element in the project to be completed, and was a big hit in the community this past Winter. Phase 3 of the Regent Park revitalization will continue to add new, upgraded housing and community benefits to the neighbourhood well into the future.
