New development has had an incredible gentrifying effect on the east side of Toronto in recent years, bringing thousands of new residents and a growing collection of hip shops and restaurants to areas once considered undesirable. Back on May 25th 2007, construction was under way on the Times Group's Rezen Condos, a 13-storey Robert Chang Architect-designed condo development containing 144 units. For all you real estate people out there, consider that the prices for these units were starting from around $205K back in 2007, a now almost unthinkably low figure for a building that's 5-10 minute walk from the core.

Fast forward to March 2015, and construction of the new development has long since been completed. In the background, we can see that the uppermost floor of George Brown College's St. James Campus Main Building has had its exterior cladding replaced with glass as part of a new extension of the building's sixth floor.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
