At the southwest corner of Jarvis and Dundas Streets, Great Gulf Homes' Pace Condos is rising fast. The Diamond Schmitt Architects-designed condominium currently stands 35 storeys tall, just seven floors shy of its final height of 42 storeys. With Winter now officially behind us, warmer weather will allow faster construction work, meaning that Pace should top off some time this Spring.
On the south face of the building, the construction hoist that shuttles workers up the tower has been rising higher as concrete pours progress above, while the installation of Pace's cladding has also made quite a bit of progress recently. The dark-tinted window wall glazing now stretches up to the 25th floor of the tower.
The building will contain 272 residential units, including 14 affordable Artscape Lofts for artists and artist-led families as part of a public-private partnership between Artscape, the City of Toronto and Great Gulf.
Residents of the development will enjoy several Cecconi Simone-designed amenity areas occupying the entire 11th floor of the building, including a weight room, cardio room, change-rooms, billiard room, a kitchen/dining/bar lounge area, a TV lounge, and reading lounge.
The building now towers several floors above the surrounding neighbourhood, making it visible from various points around Downtown, and many other areas on the east side of the city. Even several blocks to the east at Yonge-Dundas Square, Pace is the most prominent building to the east when viewed from the right angles.
