Designed by architects Chapman & Oxley, Princes' Gate has greeted guests of Exhibition Place since the grand entrance opened in 1927. The large ornate archway is flanked on each side by nine large pillars, representing the nine provinces of Canada at the time of construction (sorry Newfoundland). Atop the archway sits a sculpture called Goddess of Winged Victory, by sculptor Charles McKechnie. We are given a great views of traffic coming in and out of Exhibition Place in today's Photo of the Day, which was submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by ashtontekno.
