Developer The Onni Group has another condominium development to add to its cluster of buildings at Bathurst and Fort York. The 13-storey Local at Fort York, designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects, got under way in early 2014 with its shoring and excavation phases, and in the time since, upward construction of the building's foundation and garage floors has made significant progress.

Concrete and rebar on site now sit just below street level, and the columns of the P1 level are in place to support the ground level above. In the coming weeks, we can expect to see forms placed for the ground floor, and the subsequent milestone of the project reaching grade.

The development will add 240 one and two-bedroom condominium units to the rapidly intensifying Fort York neighbourhood, ranging in size from 429 square-feet up to 1,300 square feet. Residents of these units will enjoy a wide selection of amenities at 'The Local Lounge' located on the seventh floor, including a fitness centre with free weights, cardio machines and stretching area, a rooftop deck with a BBQ area and urban garden plots, plus a bar and fully-outfitted chef’s kitchen.
