Construction of The Daniels Corporation's HighPark Condominiums is nearing completion, as finishing touches are applied to the 14-storey, Diamond Schmitt Architects-designed condominium development on Bloor Street West, across the street from scenic High Park. In our last update, we covered the materials being used to finish the exterior of the building's two nine-storey arms, and today we return for another look at the development's exterior progress.

Red brick now covers just under one third of the east wing's outer facade, framing the window wall glazing and white spandrel which makes up a large percentage of the building envelope.

The west facade is also being finished in brick, currently wrapped a huge tarpaulin shell which acts as a barrier between workers and the harsh weather. It both shields crews, allowing a more comfortable working environment, while also providing temperatures conducive for the mortar to properly cure in.

At street level, tinted glazing framed with thin vertical black mullions is now in the process of sealing off HighPark's lofty retail spaces, one of which will house a new location for 7 Enoteca, a popular Italian restaurant in Oakville.

Above the retail spaces, crews are now installing the metal framing over the concrete slab that will support cladding for the second storey terrace above the retail frontage. The angle below also shows that railings for balconies have been installed on the south side of the east wing, and fritted glazing for the Juliet balconies on the east side of the west arm have since been installed.

Once construction of HighPark is complete, residents of the building's 378 units will enjoy amenities including an outdoor roof terrace and a party room. Residents will also have access to community gardening plots, a feature that has proven very popular with residents in other recent Daniels Corporation developments like NY2 in North York, and One Park Place in Regent Park. It's now being offered at Daniels Erin Mills in Mississauga as well.
