Urban Capital and ALIT Developments are bringing a new master-planned community to the York Mills and Don Valley Parkway area to be called The Ravine. Designed by Rafael + Bigauskas Architects, the development draws inspiration from the organic architecture philosophy of legendary American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, embodied by the generous use of warm wood and stone finishes, and embracing the harmony between a building and its natural context—in this case the Don Valley.
Overlooking a quiet tributary called Deerlick Creek where it flows through wooded Brookbanks Park, the multi-phased community will eventually consist of seven buildings with 1,600 units. The Ravine's 29-storey first phase is set to launch this Winter, offering 331 one bedroom, one bedroom plus den, and two bedroom suites ranging in size from 455 square feet to 940 square feet, and starting in the mid $200,000s.
The development will offer residents a wide selection of amenities in Cecconi Simone-designed indoor and outdoor spaces set to take best advantage of the green surroundings. The ground floor of the first phase will feature a party room lounge, indoor bar, outdoor lounge with fireplace, outdoor bar, a fitness centre, a golf simulator, and a dog wash bay. There will also be a rooftop amenity area, which will include an indoor kitchen, an outdoor dining and BBQ area with a fire pit and TV, plus a sundeck and an outdoor yoga studio. More amenities will be found at the private Ravine Club, in the planned second phase. The large two-storey facility will offer an indoor pool, outdoor terrace, a fitness centre and a lounge.
Transit riders will have easy access to Downtown via the TTC’s DonValley/Downtown Express bus, while drivers will be in close proximity to the Don Valley Parkway without having to deal with the mess of congestion found a short distance north at the DVP/401/404 interchange. There are plenty of dining and shopping options offered in the area including the nearby Fairview Mall, Bayview Village Shopping Centre, and the Shops at Don Mills.
The presentation centre for The Ravine is located at 1213 York Mills Road. It is set to open next month, when we will be able to bring you more information about this large-scale redevelopment project. In the meantime, a fuller collection of watercolour renderings by artist Michael McCann, plus further information about the development can be found in our dataBase file, linked below.
