Tridel has begun marketing the sixth tower at their Metrogate community site on the north side of Highway 401 at Kennedy Road in Scarborough. To be called Avani 2, the building will be the 35-storey second phase of the Avani complex. Like the two other sets of twins in the community, renderings depict Avani 2 turned 90 degrees and mirroring the design of its sibling, Avani at Metrogate, where construction is already well under way.

Avanti 1 and 2 will be the fifth and sixth towers at the master-planned Metrogate community at Kennedy Road and Highway 401 in the heart of Scarborough. The community is already home to two completed twin tower high-rise condominium developments called Ventus at Metrogate and Solaris at Metrogate, all designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects and set around a large central park bounded by townhome blocks.

Construction of Avani's 35-storey first phase is now just rising above grade. Like many Tridel developments, Avani's progress can be easily tracked by visiting the project webcam, which is positioned high above the site to provide a bird's-eye view of the construction activity.

While the image above does a great job in showing the Avani site, its vantage point doesn't show the rest of the Metrogate community to the south which includes the 4 completed towers, the townhomes, and Metrogate Park. The image below, captured in the Summer of 2012 from Highway 401, shows the completed Solaris towers and the since-completed Ventus towers.

While all of the details are still to emerge about Avani's second phase, we do know that the development will offer its residents amenities like entertainment spaces, outdoor terraces, and a fitness centre. The project will also add a second onsite daycare facility to the Metrogate community and ground floor retail spaces.
