New methods and technologies are redefining what it is to be an architect in the modern age. With the role of architects constantly evolving to reflect changing times, so must our interpretation of the field of architecture. Students, academics, architects and other industry professionals are invited to join an upcoming symposium held by Ryerson University's Master of Architecture Class of 2016, titled “Designing the Architect: Reshaping Architectural Pedagogy for the Information Age”, where the changing role of architects will be discussed in detail.

Ryerson Symposium: Designing the Architect: Reshaping Architectural Pedagogy for the Information Age

The symposium will primarily focus on three areas, the first being the question of how architectural education will respond to the changing landscape and establish lateral connections. Next, the question of how education will embrace the methods of representation and rapidly evolving material design and fabrication while the third topic will cover how these factors play into the future of education, design, and the practice of Architecture in general.

The symposium, which is to be moderated by ArchiTEXT founder Zahra Ebrahim, will be held on Monday, January 26, from 6:30pm to 10:00pm at The Bram & Bluma Appel Salon on the second floor of the Toronto Reference Library at 789 Yonge Street. Guest speakers at the symposium will include Michelle Addington, Professor at Yale University, David Gloster, Director of Education at RIBA, George Baird, Partner at Baird Sampson Neuert Architects and David Covo, Associate Professor at McGill University.
