The Interior Design Show is back for its 2015 edition at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this weekend, and it's a pretty interesting year. UrbanToronto was able to walk through on Thursday evening for the opening party. Today was Trade Day at the show, but on Saturday and Sunday it's all for the public.

You will see in the video below that there are many, many exhibitors to enjoy—far more than appear in the video actually—and while we were especially fond of the Miele and IKEA Kitchens exhibits, the highlight of the show was 'Cubitat', by UrbanCapital and Nichetto Studio. A collaboration between by the Toronto-based developer and the Stockholm and Venice-based design studio, Cubitat is a 10 foot by 10 foot by 10 foot prefabricated 'Plug-And-Play' cube that is meant to hold all the essentials for setting up a home; kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, with appliances, closets, shelves, and cupboards tucked into every conceivable space, you'll have to come down and open all the hidden doors and drawers for yourself. Cubitat is designed in components to allow you to customize it for your needs, and the plan is to make it portable too, ready to be moved when you need to move.

You will find that various booths offer treats particular to their wares—or wears if we're talking Montauk Sofa—where plaid extends from the floor to the walls to the sofa to the kilts. Miele's treats are for those interested in eating, and visitors to the show will be able to book into Miele's kitchen for a taste experience, free of charge. We suggest you do that early.

While most of the interior design show is given over to furnishings of all sizes—fabrics, decorative pieces, art objects,  furniture, appliances, electronics, kitchen and bathroom fittings, and fireplaces, you'll find some things at the show purely for fun… to help you get in the swing of things.
