Erin Mills Town Centre first opened in 1989, and now after 25 years of serving customers on the west side of Mississauga, a $100 million renovation is updating the shopping centre, both inside and out.
Chief amongst the changes designed by MMC Architecture are a new entrance, and a renewed presence on the local skyline. The original main entrance and the matching PoMo clock tower are now long gone, but here's a reminder of how they looked for a quarter century.
And here is what it currently looks like. Instead of the clock tower, they've replaced it with a glass sphere. A nice and tall glass entrance greets you as you walk into the mall, giving lots of light.
Inside the mall, renovations are currently under way too. Below, the Hudson's Bay wing features new pot lights and indirect lighting in the ceiling along with new clerestory windows. The floor and railings are also getting redone as well, with safety barriers temporarily in place.
The food court is getting a makeover too, with an extension into the 54 foot high glass atrium above the main entrance where spacious new seating areas will be found. Visitors are now enjoying beautiful and spacious washrooms, including a new family washroom and a nursing room. 20VIC Management Inc. says that the Town Centre's renovations are set to be completed by Summer 2015.
