Opened in 1989 as the SkyDome, the now-renamed Rogers Centre still manages to impress with its massive scale even after a quarter century. The stadium was an engineering marvel in its early days, becoming the first fully retractable roof stadium in the world, a feat that Montreal's Olympic Stadium (built before SkyDome) failed to accomplish until years after The Dome's opening. We are given a unique vantage point of the retractable roof closing in today's Photo of the Day, which was submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by Oscar Flores.
