Construction on the King Plus Development's King + Condos has passed the half-way point on the way to the top of the 17-storey condominium located at Sherbourne and King on Downtown Toronto's east side. Designed by TACT Architecture with heritage work overseen by ERA Architects, the building is starting to stand out amongst its neighbours.
In the image below, a view across Sherbourne south of King Street shows just how much work has been accomplished since our last project update in August. The heritage facade of the National Hotel is no longer being held up by steel beams, as it is now supported by the new structure in behind.
From further south at the corner of Front and Sherbourne, we can see the the crane is moving a fly-form out from the space between the ninth and tenth floors. It will join the other fly-forms one floor higher so that concrete can be placed for the eleventh floor.
Below, this view presents the front of the building at the intersection of Sherbourne and King. The old National Hotel facade is centre stage; there will be retail at ground level, with the lobby entrance to the east along King, with another retail space past it. When completed in 2015, King + Condos will add 132 units to the quickly revitalizing area.
