We have been closely following the construction of Concert Properties88 Scott since the project's earliest stages, including the careful disassembly and demolition of the previous structure on the site as well as the ground breaking for the 58-storey, Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects-designed condominium tower that will replace it. The development has now met yet another milestone, with the installation of the tower crane over this past weekend.

In the weeks leading up to the crane raising, a concrete pad to support the base of the crane was excavated, reinforced with rebar, and poured, marking the first step of upwards construction after the lengthy shoring and dig-down. In the image below, we can see the site as it appeared two weeks ago, as crews prepared the concrete footings for the tower crane.

The crane arrived on site early Saturday morning via large flatbed trucks. The following image shows one of these trucks arriving with a large mast section in advance of the crane assembly.

The installation of the tower crane was facilitated with the use of a portable crane, parked temporarily on Scott Street just north of Wellington. The temporary crane lowered sections of the crane into the pit piece by piece, where each section was received by waiting crews and fixed into place.

The installation of the crane's jib arm was the final step in the process, and in the images and video below, we are given a first-hand view of the final section being raised and secured into place.

With the crane now assembled, work is now primed to begin on the foundations for the 525-unit development, which will feature a wide range of amenities, including lounges, a 46th/47th floor sky lounge, bar, caterers' kitchen and formal dining room.
