Soaring land prices in Downtown Toronto have led to a surge in high-density development in the city's surrounding suburbs, as home buyers look beyond the city core for better value. One such place is in Scarborough at the intersection of Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue where VHL Developments Inc. is bringing about a significant revitalization with their 2150 Condos development, the first phase of which is now under construction.

The first phase of the Master Building Inc.-designed community is taking shape at the north end of the redevelopment site, and the tower now stands at 15 storeys, closing in on its final 19-storey height.

In the image above, we can see glazing now being installed on the lower floors of the tower. Taking a close look, the window glass appears to be tinted a light green, and is framed by off-white, faintly blue-tinted mullions and spandrel panels.

This first phase tower will be followed up by a 16-storey second phase, which will bring an additional 203 condominium units to the western end of the site. Phase two is currently in its marketing stages and is to be followed by a future third phase. When construction on the first phase of 2150 is complete, currently slated for mid-2015, residents will have access to a selection of amenities, including a swimming pool, sauna, and an outdoor playground.
