Yonge Street's stretch through North York has been the site of some impressive growth over the past several years, a revitalization which shows little sign of slowing down any time soon. Sorbara Group is now joining the party in North York City Centre with Beacon Condos, a modern 35-storey condominium development designed by Wallman Architects and Rafael + Bigauskas Architects.
The development will be built at 5200 Yonge Street, located between Sheppard and Finch and right above North York Centre subway station on the TTC's Line 1 to which it will have direct indoor access. The tower will rise from a tall three-storey podium which will feature prestige retail on Yonge Street as well as containing the residential amenities for the building.
The project's exterior spaces, including the uniquely paved driveway visible in the rendering below, are being handled by landscape architects Thinc Design.
Interior spaces at Beacon Condos have been designed by UNION31, including the lounge amenity area depicted in the rendering below. Beacon will also offer residents a selection of the familiar amenities, including a game room, movie, party room, roof deck, guest suite and a gym.
More details continue to emerge about this development, and we will be sure to return with updates as more becomes available.
In the meantime, additional information and renderings can be found in the Beacon Condos dataBase file, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion? Check out the associated Forum threads, or leave a comment in the space provided at the bottom of this page.
