Work is progressing at the site of King Plus Development's King + Condos, a new condominium project rising at the southeast corner of King and Sherbourne. Designed by TACT Architecture with heritage work overseen by ERA Architects, the 17-storey condo tower's construction has overcome many challenges caused by a tight site at a busy intersection, and with the project now above ground level, work has picked up speed.

The development is rising behind the historic, three-storey façade of the National Hotel, currently preserved in-situ and supported by yellow-painted steel bracing as the lower floors of the new development rise behind.

Concrete and steel now reach to the third floor on the north side of the building, while work continues on the wall forms and columns on the second floor on the south end.

Once construction is complete, King + Condos will add 132 condominium units to a stretch of King Street East that has seen extensive revitalization and intensification in recent years, which along with the surrounding 'Old Town of York' area, has shed its rough-around-the-edges reputation in the process.
