Construction is wrapping up on a new boutique condominium in Parkdale. Royal Queen Developments' Q Loft is an 8-storey, TACT Architecture-designed development located at 1205 Queen St West, at the corner of Dufferin containing 70 loft-style condominium units as well as a selection of retail shops and services on the ground floor of the building.

The site of the condominium development was previously occupied by an aging low-rise strip plaza and its accompanying parking lot. The image below shows the Q Loft site as it appeared in Spring of 2011.

One year later, the former building was demolished and the site was cleared to make way for the project's shoring phase. Fast forward to the present, and Q Loft is now topped off and seeing installation of its final exterior finishes.

The project's design features architectural nods to the area's past as a working class rail suburb. A rough stone feature wall creates a nice contrast in texture to the smooth black glazing and spandrel used on the upper floors of the development. Interior spaces at Q Loft feature similar contrasts, including the lobby, which is finished in a striking combination of black slate walls and white marble floors.
