With the never-ending escalation of housing prices in the city centre, the urbanization of suburban nodes with new condominiums allows for reasonably priced new housing to be built in the city. Put the redevelopments on TTC lines, and intensification projects in our suburban ring become attractive locations for new home buyers. The intersection of Birchmount and Lawrence in Scarborough is one such node now on the rise - in more ways than one.

2150 Condos by VHL Developments Inc. is bringing residential density and retail space to an intersection lacking in both. The Master Building–designed development is being built in three phases, and construction is already under way on the first phase (the north tower) of the three-tower, 597-unit project. The 19-storey first phase broke ground almost a year ago, and in the time since, the site has been excavated, the underground garage built, and the building has risen to the second floor.

Following VHL's successful first phase, phase two of the project is set to see its public launch this Saturday, May 10th, at the 2150 presentation centre at Birchmount and Lawrence. The 16-storey second phase will rise on the west side of the site, offering 203 condominium units ranging between 580 and 908 square feet. VHL will be offering purchasers a special $3,000 upgrade voucher, exclusively on the day of the launch.

The addition of high-density condominium buildings is a major step forward for the once industrial-commercial stretch of land which juts north from Scarborough's Golden Mile area, following the west side of Birchmount Avenue. The 1980s and 90s saw the decline of business in the area, leaving ample redevelopable land ripe for improvement. The site of a former car dealership, VHL is turning this under-valued land into an opportunity to pass on the savings to purchasers through attractive pricing.
