King Plus Development's King + Condos is showing noticeable progress at 251 King East, on the southeast corner of King and Sherbourne Streets. The 17-storey condominium, designed by TACT Architecture with heritage work overseen by ERA Architects, will rise behind the preserved three-storey façade of the former National Hotel, currently supported on-site by yellow-painted steel bracing.
Construction on the project has recently hit a major milestone, and with the building's underground floors now largely completed, concrete and steel have reached street level. The project's three-storey podium will soon rise behind the heritage facades, after which we should see the tower's repetitive floorplates climb at an accelerated pace.
Once completed, King + will add 132 condominium units to downtown Toronto's rapidly changing east side. The project is situated on an up-and-coming stretch of King Street East, home to a diverse collection of shops, restaurants and plenty of nearby transit options. The surrounding neighbourhood continues to be built out with projects like the new Globe and Mail Centre down the street, which is certain to spur more retail and businesses development in the area.
We look forward to watching the progression of this development, which is conveniently located only a few hundred feet south of UrbanToronto's offices.
