Major changes are underway at the Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga, as 20VIC Management Inc.'s $100 million revitalization and expansion of the mall moves forward. The project is changing noticeably these days with the dismantling of the mall's original landmark feature, its Postmodern clock tower. UrbanToronto Forum contributor 'Jasonzed' has captured the clock tower's demise over the last few weeks through a series of photos.
The MMC Architecture-designed revitalization plan will replace the signature clock tower with a new glass sphere measuring in at 283 feet in circumference that stretches above the roof of the mall's central court area.
The project will also feature a 54 foot high glass atrium housing the mall's renewed and updated food services and dining area, with interiors designed by GHA Design. New retail outlets like Target Canada are also coming to the Erin Mills Town Centre, and new restaurants such as Panera Bread have already opened up for business.
Much of the existing material in the building is currently being replaced by newer finishes, and through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the Erin Mills Town Centre redevelopment effort will see as much material as possible put to reuse in future building projects.
The entire project is slated for Summer 2015 completion. In the meantime, you can comb through our dataBase file, linked below, for a selection of renderings of the revitalized and expanded mall.
