Another milestone has been achieved on developer ELAD Canada’s large multi-phased Emerald City complex at Don Mills and Sheppard. Next to the nearly complete 36-storey first phase, the 29-storey second phase and 25-storey third phase 'Dream Tower' have now topped out at their final heights.

The WZMH Architects-designed towers wouldn’t qualify as particularly tall by recent downtown standards, but their naturally elevated position atop the East Don Valley, combined with the surrounding low to mid-rise nature of the area, make Emerald City appear as the tallest structures for kilometres in every direction.

As crews continue to work on the three towers, the townhome portion of the development is now under construction at ground level.

Other ground level spaces are starting to come together as well, like this landscaped public entrance to the complex being formed at the southeast corner of Don Mills and Sheppard.

Considering the ambitious scale of Emerald City with the addition of nearly 1,200 condominium units to the area in a short time frame, the neighbourhood and its public amenities could become strained. To alleviate that and give thousands of new and existing residents of the area a place to stretch their legs, ELAD is constructing the new Parkway Forest Community Centre just steps from their new residences.

Residents of Emerald City will also be situated a stone’s throw from Fairview Mall’s 175 shops, restaurants and cinemas, as well as having easy access to Don Mills Station on the TTC Sheppard line. Vehicle-oriented commuters will have it pretty easy too, with the vital 401–DVP/404 highway interchange only metres away.

Next up for the site is Biyu Condos and the town homes at Emerald City. Stayed tuned for that soon…
