Yesterday we looked at Biyu, the latest phase to be announced for Emerald City, a more urban re-imagining of a 1960s tower-in-the-park suburb, still in its infancy. Today we cross the street to check in on progress at the Parkway Forest Community Centre, a key component of the Parkway Forest master-planned community. The Diamond Schmitt Architects-designed community centre is progressing well with its foundation poured, and with a good portion of the building's structure in now place.

Future: Entrance to Parkway Forest Community Centre by Diamond Schmitt Architects

Soon the Parkway Community Centre will be a vibrant community hub with a green roof, a commercial teaching kitchen and an adjacent rooftop garden. The 50,000-square-foot centre is being built to achieve LEED Silver Certification, only the second Community Centre in Toronto to have such a distinction.
