Taking advantage of a site directly adjacent to GO Transit's Mimico Station, On The GO Mimico is a new development that promotes itself as a residence outside the downtown core, yet one with quick transit linkages that can get residents to Union Station within 10 minutes. The first project of developer Stanton Renaissance, On the GO Mimico is a poster child of their intended approach to residential development; building eco-conscious buildings in harmony with surrounding communities and the environment—and with excellent transit linkages.

At Royal York Road and Newcastle Street, On the GO Mimico will be a 27-storey tower that rises above the predominately low-rise, single family housing in Mimico, one of Toronto's earliest satellites. Though predominately suburban, Mimico is a diverse neighbourhood that offers many amenities within walking distance. In fact, Mimico achieves a walkability score of 83, and is serviced by a broad array of shops, restaurants, schools, parks and trails and community centres. On the GO Mimico will expand the neighbourhood's services, with the inclusion of retail at grade, and a planned grocery store and coffee shop.

While the GO Transit station is a critical component of the neighbourhood, and is a focus of On the GO's developers and marketing team, the site is also serviced by TTC bus routes, is a quick bike away from the Waterfront trail, which was recently extended west alongside Mimico's scenic harbour area. Though transit is the development's focus, On the GO Mimico will provide 206 parking spots for residents in addition to guest parking spots: the project is just south of the Gardiner Expressway.

On The GO Mimico's sleek modern design by McCallum Sather Architects will imbue a shot of Downtown Toronto urbanism into this mid-urban setting. Continuous clean lines and straight balconies define the facade, broken by by an equally geometric protrusion. The development's 242 units rising to 27 storeys will provide a striking focus to this transit hub. The developer hopes this project will be a community transformer, directing urban-style development into a suburban community and encouraging future dense development around this transit node.

On the GO Mimico's units will range from 524 square feet to as big as 2751 square feet for the penthouse. Beyond offering retail amenities at street level, the development will include an Executive concierge, plus access to a green roof will heighten the project's urban sensibilities. Units are starting at the mid $200 000s.
