As the neighbourhood of Concord CityPlace continues to evolve a growing sense of community pride, the master-planned community’s Vancouver based developer, Concord Adex, hosted back to back parties this week for residents of the recently completed two-towered ‘Parade’ complex.
The pedestrian mews that runs between the two towers was transformed by large tents on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, converting the large open area into a modular event space.
The event, expertly catered by Peter and Paul's of Vaughan, entertained over 3,000 residents of Parade—the east side—on the first night, and Parade2—the west side—on the second night.
Keeping the pace of the evening going, a lively band performed covers of well-known songs both new and old.
Nobody left hungry nor thirsty. A huge range of food was laid on, with offerings including quesadillas, sushi, oysters, barbecue, pasta, and particularly tasty mini-burgers and hot dogs.
Sweet treats were in abundance with tarts and cakes and cookies a-plenty. Desserts also included mouth-watering, perfect for photography, expertly carved fresh fruit displays, and a tougher-to-photograph but quite beguiling make-your-own smores bar.
For those (somehow) not interested in the smore bar, the more traditional type of bar was at hand, and bartenders were kept quite busy.
In a room full of greenery, some of topiary caught guests off guard when it moved! Actors in plant suits surprised partiers brushing past them with a wave or a leafy hug.
After guests had a chance to wine and dine, local Member of Parliament Olivia Chow took to the stage to welcome new residents to her riding before handing off the microphone to Concord Adex’s Vice President of Development, Gabriel Leung.
Mr. Leung's welcome included a raffle, with lucky partygoers taking home a selection of gift certificates from local merchants, service providers, and restauranteurs, plus iPads, a MacBook Pro, and even a grand prize cash award for a lucky individual. Everyone returned home with Godiva chocolates.
Though the big party at ground level is now over, the party in Parade’s new SkyLounge is just beginning. As of Saturday, residents in both halves of Parade will be able to enjoy the lounge and billiard space with incredible views over the city and lake. We'll be back next week with a report on that exceptional amenity.
Until then, you can find lots of building facts and pre-construction renderings of Parade in our dataBase file, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion? Check out the associated Forum threads, or voice your opinion in the comments section provided at the bottom of the page.
