The days are heating up, and so is construction activity in the constantly evolving Entertainment District. A large percentage of Downtown condominium developments, both recently completed and ongoing, are located in the burgeoning community which straddles the western edge of the core. One such project rising in the Entertainment District is Pinnacle on Adelaide, and it's beginning to make a visual impact on the neighbourhood from various nearby vantage points.

The following aerial photos of the site, taken earlier this, week give us a top-down perspective on the buildings recent progress.

The massive podium, which will serve as a base for the 444 foot tower, currently stands 10 storeys above its namesake thoroughfare, Adelaide Street East. The southern end of the podium will be anchored by the historic Richard West House, which was moved on site from its temporary location across the street in September of last year. It will be fronted by a public plaza facing John Street, and will part of that street's rebith as a cultural corridor for Toronto.

In the photo below, we can see the first bit of window wall cladding gracing the north side of the biulding's podium. Dark marshall blue mullions are matched with clear glass. Once cladding reaches the tower we will see curtain wall cladding with a blue-tinted glass appear.

After a longer than expected winter, construction has swung back into high gear with crews now preparing for the imminent switch to the “typical” tower floorplates above the podium. As work continues on the 564-unit condominium tower, we will be sure to return for keep readers up to date.
