Across the street from Toronto landmark Honest Ed's, construction work on Lindvest Properties' B.streets condos has recently reached the ground-level milestone. Work on the 9-storey, Hariri Pontarini-designed project began last summer with the demolition of the presentation centre (which was housed in a former Catholic school), followed by a speedy excavation. Earlier today we stopped by the site to catch up on the progress made since our last visit.

The recent storm and resulting accumulation of snow have had little to no effect on productivity, with the resilient workers easily working through built up snow and constant precipitation. In the photos below, we step out onto the northern portion of what will eventually be the ground floor.

The ground floor will contain retail units fronting onto the project’s namesake, Bathurst Street, while also creatively incorporating townhomes fronting onto Loretto Lane.  Marketed as B.streets Lane Homes, the townhouses will take advantage of the underutilized laneway, which runs just east of Bathurst.

With the ground floor only having been poured on the north half of the site, we moved on to the basement. In its current state, the single underground floor—which will eventually hold 56 parking spaces—provides a perfect cross-sectioned cutaway of the crane base rising from the foundation.

The 195-unit development, which features interiors by veteran design firm Cecconi Simone, has already won several awards including 5 from OHBA (Ontario Home Builders’ Association) and 7 from BILD (Building Industry and Land Development Association). Once complete, residents at B.streets condos will have easy access to Bathurst Station on the TTC’s Bloor-Danforth Line, the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, and countless dining and shopping options.
