The foundation at One Bloor East by Great Gulf Homes is beginning to fill with concrete and steel rebar to support the 75-storey tower. The projects two cranes went up in September in preparation of the heavy lifting required to build a tower that will rise 767 feet.

The Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed One Bloor East will bring 732 new residential units and over 100,000 square feet of ground level retail space to the southeast corner of Yonge and Bloor when it is finished in late 2014.

In this image from early November, you can see the backhoes have dug out a core in the centre of the foundation floor in the lower right corner.

By late November, the steel rebar is in place. Perhaps this in preparation for a major central support column and elevator bank?

You can really see just how deep and large this site is from this perspective. Five storeys deep and a city block long!

One Bloor East is just one in a number of projects planned for this area, including the proposal for the 83-storey 50 Bloor Street West, Five St. Joseph, Casa, and Chaz.
